| Name: Emily
Age: 19 (just turned actually)
Location: right now, crystal river, fl but usually orlando, fl. (I'm visiting my dad and gramma atm)
About Me: I'm a lesbian who loves the gay mansex, and fangirls excessively over a select few male celebrities. Because Chris Evans is hot. (I find that's a good excuse for almost anything I do.) I also enjoy ridiculous arguments over whose fault my horniness is and why I should/shouldn't let go of something that happened three years ago (I'm having one of those now). I also RP a lot, especially if I'm trying to write a sex scene and it's not going well, I'll enlist someone to RP it with me and it'll work better usually.
What I Write: m/m romance, m/m smut, m/f romance, f/f smut, f/f romance, character pieces, fanfiction, original fic, kinkfic, weird freeform poetry, comedy, dark things
What I don't write: chaptered anything, anything longer than 10,000 words, m/f smut (het sex freaks me out, and don't get me started on heterosexual anything other than kissing or intercourse), horror,
What I Read: um. anything? favorite 5 books/series: Ender's Shadow, Raptor Red, Kushiel's Legacy/Justice, Warchild, Harry Potter (duh). I also read pretty much anything that crosses my path online as long as it's a fandom I know (or original)
What I Don't Read: Erm...idk...textbooks? Nonfiction?
Favorite Authors: oscar wilde, karin lowachee, JK aka the Goddess, orson scott card, jacqueline carey
Editing?: I can edit my own spelling and grammar, and usually once written I don't wnat to change too much
Looking For: People who can tell me specifically what they liked ("it's good write more!" is nice but it's completely useless to me and gets annoying when I don't like what I've written), what I could fix, and what I need to stop doing right the hell now. Also someone who's not afraid to comment on old stuff.

| Name : Emmy Age : might as well say 30 since it's only a couple weeks away... Location : Wisconsin About me : I've been married going on 9 years to my high school sweetheart and spend my days with our three little girls, who, as toddlers tend to do, fluctuate between adorable and maddening. In hopes of retaining some amount of sanity and restoring some of the brainpower washed away by the endless stream of Dora and Blue, I've returned to writing. I don't suppose I ever really stopped writing, but I haven't been on a binge like this in ages. I like video games, anime, manga (just about anything Japanese). My Journal : Don't expect to find much. I've just been using it as sort of a notebook to get feedback on specific pieces from friends. I keep all my writing on my personal site. www.shayna.rhombusstudios.com What I Read and Write : fantasy. I like a good sword and sorcery best, with epic battles and duels to the death, fireball hurling, dragon riding, etc. I like sci-fi as long as it's not something too horribly cliche, But I'll give things from most genres a chance. What I Don't Read or Write : stuff set in the current real world. Hey, I'm doing this to escape. I get enough reality from, well, reality. Editing : um... maybe? honestly, I don't really have the time to be a serious editor, but I'll be happy to point stuff out in what I read Looking for : casual story swapping. I just love telling stories. And I love hearing them. I like being the audience for a fresh, raw story in the works much more than picking up something off a store shelf all polished and edited to sell My community : (I just have to plug it.) runaway_tales is a casual, challenge-based story swapping group. All genres are welcome (the makeup is heavily fantasy/sci-fi at the moment, but that's just coincidence) You must have an overall story or set of characters to use in order to participate. We just started up a couple weeks ago and are eagerly accepting new members. | |

What I Write: Fiction, Romance, comedy, Fan-fiction What I Don't Write Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Western. And whenever else I don't write that I can't think of. What I Read: Pretty much anything, except for science fiction and most fantasy. They just don't hold my interest. What I Don't Read: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Western. Favorite Authors: Dan Brown, Stephanie Meyer, Arthur Miller, Nicholas Sparks, Sarah Dressen, Editing: Yes Looking For: People who love writing. Someone who has ideas, and I don't know. | I was watching Top Gun and if you know this movie the carrier that the movie takes place in is of course the Enterprise. In the scene at the end when Iceman is in trouble and they got to launch the fighters, the catapults fail. Only on a ship called Enterprise would the the piece of equipment that the captian needs the most fail at the worst heroic moment!

| Hey guys, just joined this community a little while ago. Newbie here, but not to Star Trek. Been a big fan for a long time. I actually just recently met Wil Wheaton at the Emerald City Comicon (read about it here) but that's another story. Not sure if this has been posted here or what not but if it has I'm gonna post it again anyway :P deal. Just recently finished reading Star Trek Terok Nor: Day of the Vipers and I just wanted to recommend it to everyone. Especially if you're into Deep Space Nine and/or the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. It's epic really. It even starts with a dramatis persona. It's about 500 pages long and in fairly small print. But honestly, it didn't feel that long at all. The story is told from a number of different points of view and each individual POV is woven together to make a cohesive plot. This is actually the first of three books. I'm currently reading the next one, Night of the Wolves, but I'm not all the way through, so no spoilers please! The first book covers basically the ten years leading up to the occupation and two months into it. The second book starts at nineteen years into the occupation. Anyroad, comment with reviews of your own if you like. I'd be interested to know what others thought about this book. ^_^ ~Katie | |

| I'm about 1/3 through and I think it's great so far and has real potential. The only other ST book I've read is Lost Years, and this one seems like it will be much better. Thoughts? No spoilers please! :) ♥ E. | |

| Well, I just got around to watching 'the man from earth', I swear one of the actors plays Phlox on Enterprise. I don't know his name though and i was too lazy to look it up. hah. Guess I'm not much of a Trekkie.
Also, Nana Visitor was on the latest episode of BSG. weeeee

| Starfleet's criminal justice system is composed of two separate, yet equally important groups. The ships computer, which records the crime, and the captain's ex, who prosecutes the offenders. These are their stories. ( CHUNG CHUNG )Lies, damn lies, and statistics: - "Court Martial" was a story published in the September 1953 issue of Galaxy, and was written by Samuel T. Cogley. At least it is according to DS9's "Far Beyond the Stars." The cover art is a reuse of the original matte painting of Starbase 11 with a rocket added to the background (see link).
- The reference that sound has been amplified "on the order of one to the fourth power" means, of course, that sound has been amplified by 14. 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 1, so the sound would not have been amplified. Kirk may have meant "ten to the fourth," which would be 10,000 times.
- The script makes more sense out of Jame's change of attitude toward Kirk. When reading her father's old letters, his attitude makes her come to believe he might pull a stunt like this to get back at Kirk.
- A scene, filmed but cut, had Finney telling Kirk where he sabotaged the ship. The cutting of the scene necessitated Kirk's expository voice-over at the end.
- Elisha Cook, Jr. had great difficulty remembering his lines. Sam Cogley's speech was pieced together with editing.
- This is the first time we see Starfleet dress uniforms.
- All Starfleet crew in the bar are seen with Enterprise arrowhead insignia. This is before the series established that all other ships have their own unique insignia.
- Areel Shaw wears the only female dress uniform seen in the series. It has gold braids on the cuffs as well as a breast patch.
- Although Finney is referred to as a lieutenant commander throughout the episode, when he finally appears, his braiding identifies him as a commander. Ditto with Spock, who will be referred to as Lt. Commander several more times until he finally gets recognition (from Vulcan Space Central, of course) as Commander Spock in Amok Time.
- This is the last episode in which the sound of the engines could be heard during fly-bys, although the sound has been added in all other episodes for the DVD releases.
- This is the first time the terms "Starfleet" and "Starfleet Command" are used.
- This is TOS's first trip to a Federation starbase.
- The relationship between Kirk and Shaw is echoed in TNG's "The Measure of a Man" between Picard and JAG Phillipa Louvois.
- Commodore Stone is the highest-ranking African-American to appear in the original series.

| Kirk and Gary Seven save the world. ( That, Ms. Lincoln, is simply my cat. )Trivioids: - Star Trek was teetering on the brink of cancellation, and Roddenberry used this episode as a "sleeper pilot" in the hope of getting a new show going for the fall season. Of course, the show didn't sell.
- The first draft had the crew watching an episode of "Bonanza" on the viewscreen.
- Gary Seven, along with the Vians ("The Empath") is one of the few humanoids immune to a Vulcan nerve peinch.
- This is the only episode in which time travel is considered routine, likely before the creation of the Temporal Prime Directive. Or it could just be Kirk's attitude, which would explain the eye-rolling by Temporal Investigations officers Dulmer and Lucsly in DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations."
- Gary Seven's Beta 5 has much in common with Daystrom's M-5 computer.
- The episode was first aired on March 29th, 1968. In a sad prediction, six days later, there was indeed an important assassination: that of Martin Luther King. Spock further mentions that the assassination is on the same day the US launches an orbital nuclear warhead platform. The missile shown is actually stock footage of Apollo 4, the first unmanned test of a Saturn V: King's assassination was the same day as the launch of Apollo 6, the second unmanned Saturn V test.
- When Seven is beamed aboard, slow motion flames can be seen behind the back wall of the transporter chamber.
- Robert Lansing (Gary Seven) is the only TOS guest star whose credit appears after the opening credits rather than during the end.
- This is only one of two episodes set entirely in the 20th century (along with ENT's "Storm Front").
- Teri Garr had a very unpleasant time filming, perhaps stemming from Roddenberry's involvement in decisions regarding her outfit. The hem was taken up so much the skirt became distorted. In interviews, Garr has refused to talk about Star Trek in any way.
- The rocket storage buildings were actually studio buildings on the Paramount lot. Launch Director Cromwell's car matches the car seen in one of the stock footage sequences.
- Gary Seven's HQ isn't far from the address of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, also on East 68th Street.
- The is the only episode of the second season to have Roddenberry credited as "Producer" instead of "Executive producer," no doubt because of the degree of his involvement in hoping the pilot would successfully spin off.
Of course, if you want to read about the further adventures of Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln, I recomment volumes one and two of The Eugenics Wars: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, by Greg Cox. Additionally, you can see a proposed intro sequence created and composed by a fan, performed by a live orchestra: Assignment: EarthIn his imaginary universe, the show gets a jazzier credit sequence by the third season: A:E Season Three

| So I spent the weekend working on a new fan video. I had done one previously for Firefly and Fifth Element, but this is my first Star Trek one. The footage is from Star Trek: First Contact, and the song is "Run (I'm a Disaster)" from Gnarles Barkley. I hope you all enjoy it! (Special thanks to my friend Brad for the Final Cut assistance!)

| So I'm at my husband's sister's graduation from UNC Chapel Hill in the pouring rain. I look to my left and realize (to my shock and happy amazement) that a Star Trek TNG actor was sitting in the row in front of me. It was Q! I quickly scanned the commencement booklet and found his son who played Q2 in VOY, John Keegan De Lancie. I've added the picture below that I surreptitiously took from underneath my umbrella.
